Ayurveda is traditional medicine from India, dating back 5000 years. It is based on five master elements that combine to form 3 general primary patterns, doshas, or mind-body principles governing our thinking, behaving and the function of our bodies. When we are out of balance with our innate dosha, illness appears. Ayurvedic evaluation aims to assess the primary dosha of a patient and their degree of balance, offering recommendations to bring the patient back into balance. Such recommendations may include self-care recommendations, herbal therapies, yoga and nutritional suggestions. Specific men’s health conditions are associated with particular imbalances among the doshas.
