Painter, illustrator. Genre scenes, landscapes.

Gustave Assire was a pupil of Benjamin Constant, Jean-Paul Laurens, Fernand Cormon and Gustave Moreau at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. From 1900 onward he exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français and then at the Salon d'Automne. His book illustrations included works by Verlaine and Musset.
