Born 5 June 1813, in Grünebach, Prussia (now Germany); died 22 December 1889, in Arceuil-Cachan (near Paris), France.

Painter, engraver, lithographer, draughtsman. Landscapes, architecture, views.

Édouard Baldus emigrated from Prussia to Paris in 1838, just one year before the invention of photography was announced. Baldus started photographing in the late 1840s, making wet-collodion prints with exceptional sharpness
