Born 21 May 1921, in Hellemmes-Lille; died 24 July 1999, in Paris.

Painter, sculptor, lithographer.

After a pointilliste phase in his late teens, Dewasne produced his first abstract paintings in around 1942. By 1945, along with painters such as Hartung, De Staël, Schneider, Poliakoff and Deyrolle, he was creating Post-Cubist work. From 1947 onwards, he followed his friend Pierre Courtin's approach
