Much of the information concerning his brief career, spent primarily in Venice, derives from prefaces to librettos of operas he wrote in the late 1660s and early 70s. The preface to Alessandro amante (dated 1667) cites him as the composer of the opera and also as interpreter of one of the leading roles. His singing career
