It. bass. Venice 1707, London 1710–11, creating Argante in Handel's Rinaldo. Dresden 1717–20. From 1720 to 1728 sang in London in all 32 operas prod. by Handel's Royal Academy, incl. 13 by Handel. Returned to Venice 1729 and became member of choir of St Mark's. His wife was the cont. Francesca Vanini (d Venice, 1744).
