Family of minute (1–2.5 mm long), shiny black wasps which have a more or less flattened abdomen and almost no wing venation. Adults are very similar to Scelionidae. Some larvae are parasites of cecidomyid gall midges and some whiteflies, others are egg parasites of Fulgoridae and Coleoptera. Reproduction by polyembryony is widespread in the family.
