Quick Reference

The precursor of a daughter centriole (centrosome) that forms initially as a ring of nine singlet microtubules adjacent to the existing centriole at the start of the S phase of the cell cycle. The way this is specified is unclear but a centrosome-associated kinase, ZYG-1, plays an important role in triggering centriole duplication.
