A condition caused by stimulation of the organ of balance in the ear, which gives rise to nausea, vertigo, and vomiting. Adrenergic andanticholinergic drugs tend to diminish travel sickness. Antihistamines that have an anticholinergic effect, are commonly used to treat travel sickness, but they can cause drowsiness which detracts from performance. Travel sickness can be a considerable handicap in sports such as sailing and motor racing.
