(1926–1980) Professor Weiner was a nationally recognized program innovator, administrator, and educator. He was a pioneer in the conceptualization and implementation of group services in the health field. Following receipt of his MSW in 1951, Professor Weiner innovated group work services in hospitals, and subsequently instructed social work students at a chronic disease hospital. From 1961 to 1967, Professor Weiner was the director of the Sidney Hillman Health Center of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers, a mental health clinic in a labor-managed health facility. In this setting, Professor Weiner designed and field-tested techniques of short-term mental health services delivered by an interdisciplinary team.
