In an article that appeared in the HIV/AIDS section of the November 2000 issue of the journal (Dunne M, Fessel J, Kumar P, et al. A randomized, double-blind trial comparing azithromycin and clarithromycin in the treatment of disseminated Mycobacterium avium infection in patients with human immunodeficiency virus. Clin Infect Dis 2000; 31:1245–52), 4 words were missing from the abstract. In the sentence that begins “Of the 6 patients who experienced relapse,” the remainder of the sentence should read “none of those randomized to receive azithromycin developed isolates resistant to macrolides, compared with 2 of 3 patients randomized to receive clarithromycin” (not “those randomized to azithromycin developed isolates resistant to macrolides, compared with 2 of 3 patients randomized to clarithromycin”).
