Show Summary Details

Emotions are judgments, I argue again, and analyze in considerable detail what this means. I argue that emotions are spontaneous, prereflective, evaluative (“appraisals”), constitutive, systematic, self‐involved, tied to desires, tied to their expression, not “dispassionate”, not propositional, sustaining rather than initiating, structural rather than disruptive.

Keywords: appraisal; desires; dissociation; emotions; expression; intentionality; judgment; spontaneity
