India exhibits great cultural depth and diversity, and it is not possible to produce a simple unitary description of the many facets of India's engagement with globalization pressures. These vary according to region, religion, ethnicity, sect, class, and caste. It is also the case that India contributes to globalization as a ‘cultural emitter’, notably in regard to religious and quasi‐religious philosophies, and as an emerging producer in the international software industry.
