The chapter discusses research efforts to identify three of the cultural channels through which Germans experience and react with globalization pressures – the business elite, the intelligentsia, and self‐representation in popular culture. A particularly important dimension in all three research areas was the intrusion of English words and expressions into vernacular speech.
