Jesus was perhaps best known as a healer. Christians have continued this ministry of Jesus in their long history, proving care for the sick, needy, and dying. They also pray over the sick, anoint them, accompany them in their final days, and offer comfort to those bereaved in the ritual of funerals. This chapter discusses the theology and history behind these practices.
