A.J. Tomlinson was appointed to the Home Mission and Temperance Committee of Chester Preparative’s mother congregation, the Westfield Monthly Meeting in summer 1891. This provided him with a deeper sense of the urgent needs around him. In an effort to remedy the nation’s ills, he joined the Populist Party in time for the 1892 elections. This political experiment played a key role in his road to holiness.
