This chapter analyzes the ethical attitudes and practices regarding the natural environment in both the Salvadoran and Amish communities examined in chapters 1 and 2. Of particular interest are agricultural practices, the links between environmental sustainability and social justice, and the complex ways that religious values and beliefs influence both everyday practice and the shape of collective institutions.
