 Memory Demonstratives

Memory demonstratives seem to depend on memory experience somewhat as perceptual demonstratives depend on perceptual experience. We need a notion of ‘temporal decentring’, in effect simulating a past time in memory, to explain the connections between memory demonstratives and past perceptual demonstratives. We also need to think of memory experience as relational, to explain how experience can make the inferential structure of our use of memory demonstratives available.

Keywords: memory; temporal decentring; time
