Introduces and explains, in a fairly non-technical fashion, the main quantitative methods employed in the study of intergenerational mobility. These include methods for modelling mobility tables, in the light of hypotheses about the distribution of cases in these tables, and methods for assessing whether such a hypothesized model gives an adequate account of the observed data.
