Some disturbance of the 5-hydroxytryptamine (5-HT, serotonin) system has been suggested to be present in a number of clinical conditions that often occur with differing degrees of overlap in affected subjects. Apart from depression, these include migraine, tension headache, and other pain syndromes. Thus, it is of interest to try to disentangle the pathology and treatment of these disorders. This chapter focuses on migraine and depression.
