This chapter describes screening and diagnosis for cystic fibrosis (CF). CF is the most common life-shortening Mendelian disorder found in children and in young adults of Caucasian descent. It is concluded that antenatal screening for CF is highly effective and justified, but that the case for neonatal screening has not been made.
