This chapter provides an introduction to oral problems in patients with advanced disease. In this chapter, the focus is on cancer patients who are receiving special palliative care. Emphasis is particularly placed on the oral problems and issues faced by the palliative care patients. Topics discussed in this chapter are the epidemiology and aetiology of oral problems on patients with advanced disease, clinical features of the multiple oral problems faced by palliative care patients, management of these problems, and the role played by multidisciplinary teams in alleviating and addressing these oral problems.
