Show Summary Details

This chapter discusses head and neck cancer with particular attention on patients with carcinomas arising from the upper aerodigestive tract. Head and neck cancers present particular challenges to healthcare professionals as a result of several disease-related factors, treatment-related factors, and patient-related factors. For patients afflicted with such disease, prognosis is relatively low. The poor prognosis is associated with the progression of the malignant disease and the development of associated disease. The first section of the present chapter discusses the principles of management of head and neck cancer while the second section focuses on the palliative care of patients with advanced head and neck cancer.
