This chapter describes the important events that took place while the artillery remained at Morton's Ford. New recruits from Alabama came and changes in command took place, making the men forget the loss they experienced during the winter. Near the end of December, the artillery moved towards Frederick Halls, where they experienced problems with food and clothing shortages. The artillery was asked to move to Orange court house and had an encounter at Morton's Ford, where some new members were lost.
