This chapter presents a framework for establishing collaboration within nontraditional settings. The framework has analytical (theoretical) and interactional (political) dimensions, and takes into account the challenges inherent in any form of collaboration between social agencies and nontraditional settings. Viewing collaboration as developmental provides social agencies and nontraditional settings with sufficient time to develop trust and mutual respect.
