Paris, BN lat. 1085 represents a systematic attempt to record the texts of the Divine office as celebrated at St.-Martial (Limoges) in the early 11th century. It was, therefore, compiled before the abbey's purchase and occupation by the abbey of Cluny in 1062-3. This chapter analyzes the structure, organization, and contents of the MS, noting its unusual characteristics in comparison with other monastic sources of the Office of a similar age and demonstrate many archaic features.
