Aristide Cavaillé-Coll was one of the most prominent organ builders in all of Europe during the latter part of the 19th century. His organ in the Jesus Church in Valby in Copenhagen is the only one he ever built in Scandinavia. This chapter describes his achievements and cultural milieu of the time he lived in. With only twenty stops, the Jesus Church organ is one of the Cavaillé-Coll's smaller instruments, but it nonetheless conveys the grandeur of the French symphonic style. It was installed soon after the completion of the church under the supervision of Félix Reinburgh, second in command in the Cavaillé-Coll's firm.
