This chapter examines some of the spiritual issues that adolescents and children face at the end of life. It reviews the usual stages of cognitive, emotional, and spiritual development experienced by children and teenagers as they mature. The findings suggest that of all the age groups discussed, dying adolescents have the greatest potential for emotional and spiritual suffering because they have a much deeper appreciation of what they are losing.
