Show Summary Details

Models of glial development must account for the wide variety of glial cells that populate the central nervous system (CNS). Constructed from both observations in vivo and studies of cultured cells, current development schemes show a linear sequence of stages reflecting progressive fate restrictions and progressive acquisitions of mature characteristics. This chapter will review these schemes and point out gaps in our understanding.
