This chapter offers some practical and concrete guidelines that are consequences of the book's attempt to rethink a theology of love for animals. Among these are that we should not infer moral principles from nature; we should not try to protect nature from ourselves as if nature's ultimate value is to be self-contained and isolated; we should not encourage or enhance violence in nature; we should worry about individual animals; and the animals who deserve our care the most are those we have domesticated, who have lived with us and contributed so much to human survival and culture.
