This chapter examines the developments in the career of Georges Barrère during the period from 1928 to 1930. As the regular concert of the New York Symphony Orchestra (NYSO) concluded in April 1928, Barrère had started his six-week transcontinental tour with the Little Symphony. The hours freed up by the demise of the New York Symphony chamber orchestra not only allowed Barrère greater freedom to tour, but also provided an opportunity for him to expand his teaching activities.
