This chapter details how Catholics from various regions of the country started VOTF affiliates to address the crisis of child sexual abuse by clergy. It describes the efforts of affiliates to support survivors of abuse while also having to negotiate their identity as Catholics seeking change from within the institution of the church. Movement participants learn of indivisible boundaries surrounding appropriate Catholic behavior for managing church finances, interacting with local bishops, and partnering with other groups supporting victims of clergy abuse. VOTF negotiated ways to balance their desired internal positioning with their reform agenda in order to effect change from within.
