This chapter provides very specific strategies and approaches departments and schools of social work can use make connections to facilitate and enhance interdisciplinary research collaborations across the university, between the university and the local community as well as nationally and internationally. Specific examples are given to illustrate roles students and faculty can play in these collaborations and how schools and departments of social work can serve as external evaluators for public and private agency grants and projects as well as partner to develop funding applications for federal, foundation, state and local grants. Examples are given of how formalized agreements can be used to strengthen and university/agency partnerships.
