The Film Gandhi

Show Summary Details

This chapter discusses Richard Attenborough’s film titled Gandhi. The film won eight Oscar awards. However, critics have suggested that the awards were tribute as much to the technical excellence of the film, as to its great theme, and that Mahatma Gandhi’s charisma influenced the judges no less than the achievement of Attenborough and his team. This chapter expresses hope that the curiosity the film has kindled will not prove to be a passing phenomenon, and that it would provoke a serious interest in the life, thought, and methods of the only humane revolutionary of our age.
