This chapter examines the interaction between globalization and India’s federal system, in the context of the country’s past decade of economic reform. It considers the interplay between globalization, federalism, and economic reform policies that are designed to respond to globalization and provides policy recommendations that will support the ability to meet the challenges of globalization in India’s federal system. It discusses the challenges of Indian federalism in a globalizing government and argues that administrative and judicial reform and reforms in political parties and legislative institutions are all part of improvements that can be made in India’s federal system.
