This chapter analyses the productivity of blue and green water in Narmada River Basin used in crop production. It quantifies the extent of green and blue water use and evaluates the extent to which each component of the hydrological system contributes to the basin water economy. It provides an estimate of the productivity of applied water for purely irrigated crops, the productivity of rainwater for rain-fed crops, and the marginal productivity of applied water for crops receiving supplementary irrigation in all the nine agro-climatic sub-regions of the basin.
