This chapter discusses the eighteen sermons of Andrewes on the Resurrection (Sermons of the Resurrection). Like his Christmas sermons, his Easter sermons display a profound unity. These Easter sermons relate to the great period of Lancelot Andrewes's preaching during the reign of James I. Andrewes preached these sermons from 1606 to 1624. In his Resurrection sermon, the same method and the same treatment is found in his three sermons of Good Friday. These are those he preached on 1597, 1604, and 1605 and display different accentuations of themes if compared to the other Easter sermons. These three sermons are examined in this chapter together with the other sermons of Easter. In his Easter sermons, Andrewes often touched on redemption with emphasis on the salvation that principally comes from the resurrection of Christ. For him, the proclamation of the resurrection of Christ and the consequences for creation that flow from it represents the essence of Gospel proclamation and the very substance of the Gospel.
