This chapter examines the link between Jesus of Nazareth and God the Word. It suggests that if this link is to be a two-way traffic then there needs to be three possibilities of linkage. These include the possibility of at least two different kinds of links joining Jesus and the Word, the existence of a union between the two of only one kind but one which resides in something they have in common, and the possibility of a union between the two of only one kind that resides in something external to both.
