This chapter focuses on the ritual and functional aspects of the 'Ashīra and Ṭarīqa Muṭammadiyya to complete the transition from the public religious discourse to the ‘private’ world of the ṭarīqa. For the sake of convenience, these may be divided into two types of occasion. The first is the regular ṭaḍra and teaching session (dars), and the second is the extraordinary meeting, held to mark a festival ('īd) or other significant date in the Muslim calendar. It specifically discusses the order of events for each, reproducing dialogue wherever appropriate and possible, and introducing any new material against the background of the issues which already been explained.
