This chapter examines Karl Rahner’s theology of change in the Church. Rahner has shown that his ecclesiology was not simply idiosyncratic and he has used the teaching of the Church to illustrate that his theology was other than a gnosticism to which only the illuminati could have access. A prime example of how Rahner used official teaching to develop an ecclesiology which did not merely clone Council or encyclical is his response to the definition of Church in Mystici Corporis Christi.
