This chapter focuses on the very fruitful decade for international dialogue between Catholics and Orthodox, namely, the 1980s, which saw the production of three major agreed statements: ‘The Mystery of the Church and of the Eucharist in the Light of the Mystery of the Holy Trinity’ (1982); ‘Faith, Sacraments and the Unity of the Church’ (1987); and ‘The Sacrament of Order in the Sacramental Structure of the Church’ (1988). In particular, it highlights the ten years from the first agreed statement of 1982 to the production of the Catechism, and the many resonances that exist between the latter's teaching and the statements of the dialogue.
