This chapter focuses on the editorial changes made by Charlotte Brontë to Emily's poems, following the latter's death. Charlotte's revisions to the poems she edited for publication in 1850 shaped Emily's reputation for the remainder of the century and longer. The seventeen poems published in 1850, together with the twenty-one poems published in 1846 and one more poem published in Cornhill Magazine in 1860 (‘A Farewell to Alexandria’), made up the entire canon of Emily Brontë's known poetic achievement until 1902.
