This chapter presents the reflective musical life-story of Sarah, who developed exceptional musical theatre skills at an early age. She played the French horn for five years and later started playing in her school wind band. When Sarah moved to high school and became unhappy at what she saw as an increasingly narrow academic emphasis at her new school, her parents supported her audition for, and subsequent transfer to, one of Sydney's leading performing and visual arts high schools. Sarah had given up the French horn by then, but her musical life can hardly be defined by the terms of that particular musical engagement alone.
