This chapter addresses the question: what of those millions in our world who have not embraced faith in Christ but are affected by God's universal reign? The dynamic presence of Christ and his Holy Spirit touches every person and all cultures and religions, even if very many remain unaware of this powerful presence. In some real sense all human beings are ‘in’ Christ and in some real sense the Holy Spirit is ‘in’ all human beings. This revealing and redemptive presence assumes an endless variety of degrees and varieties, and has involved the transformation and permanent existence of Christ's risen humanity.
