This chapter provides a short summary of the archaeological information for Hadrian's Wall. It draws on a variety of published accounts, particularly the two volumes of the Research Framework for the Wall, which contains a number of review articles written by experts on the archaeology of the Wall. It presents an outline of information about the Wall in order to address its construction, form, and use in Roman times. This will provide a background to the ways in which Hadrian's Wall was drawn upon after Roman times.
