This chapter applies some of the theories of ethnicity, such as boundary maintenance issues, and the role of religion and history in ethnicity to Ezra’s intermarriage crisis. The problematic nature of applying terminology such as race to the text is underlined and the dynamics of identity which the text presents are explored.
