The conclusion draws together the findings about individual Kaiserchronik episodes obtained in the book, arguing that the chronicle's narrative technique is at least as important as its religious-didactic function. To reinforce the argument, four subsequent Middle High German works that feature figures encountered in the Kaiserchronik are considered—Konrad von Würzburg's Silvester and Schwanritter, Rudolf von Ems's Der guote Gêrhart, and the anonymous Kreuzfahrt des Landgrafen Ludwigs des Frommen. Finally, the chapter suggests that the various aspects of narrative technique described in the book converge in the concept of the literary character in the Kaiserchronik.
