The previous chapter took responsibility for negligence to be a test case for an explanation of responsibility. But while cases of negligence were used as examples, no analysis of the conditions of responsibility for negligence was offered. This is the task of the present chapter. It will recap some of the key points of the last chapter and apply them to an explanation of the Negligence Standard, as I will refer to the doctrine that agents are responsible for their negligent conduct, and for negligently caused harm.
