This concluding chapter begins with a summary of the study's principal results. It then addresses the question of whether the Gacaca process will contribute to Rwanda's future stability. This is followed by a discussion of the lesson learned from the Rwandan experience. It argues that the Gacaca process has proved to be invaluable with regards to assessing the potential of using traditional forms justice in transitional settings. Given that local mechanisms have increasingly come into the focus of transitional justice research, this issue warrants further discussion.
