The analysis of the content in all the 1,350 accounts has been a long and arduous process. It reveals a total of about 150 different reactions (aspects). These have been arranged in a scheme — a descriptive system —with three levels. The top, fundamental level (level 1) comprises seven categories: (i) general characteristics, (ii) physical reactions and behaviours, (iii) perception, (iv) cognition, (v) feelings, emotion, (vi) existential and transcendental aspects, and (vii) personal and social aspects. Each of these comprises two to eight sub-categories (level 2), which in turn comprise a varying number of reactions (level 3). This chapter contains a description and examples of the various categories and reactions. Quite a lot may be familiar from the comments accompanying the accounts in the previous chapters.
